Primed Cotton Canvas Rolls

Our Triple-Primed Artist Canvas is coated with an acrylic Titanium Based formulation to ensure maximum protection against any traces of harmful impurities that may develop over the years as a result of ageing.

To achieve this, a neutralizing agent is included to absorb any traces of acidic compounds. The whiteness of the canvas is enhanced by the use of Titanium Dioxide pigment of the highest purity.

Our Primed Artist canvas is available in different weights and available in 100% cotton and mixed polyester cotton blends.

Care and cleaning

Keep free of dirt and dust as much as possible. Remove dust with feather duster or dry white cloth.

For stubborn dirty/dust marks only use plain luke warm water. Do NOT use soaps or detergents on the pre-primed coating.

Our canvas rolls are universally primed on 100% cotton. The canvas is primed at a high temperature controlled auto machine with high quality Titanium Gesso, specially formulated and developed by our technical team.

Our primed coated canvas ensures consistency in surface, is ready to use and no further coat is required before painting.The canvas is supplied individually rolled around a heavy inner cardboard and packed.

The canvas is available in 5 oz, 7 oz, 10 oz, 12 oz and 14 Oz with effects of double / triple primed in 5 mtrs, 10 mtrs, 25 mtrs, 50 mtrs,100 mtrs, 6 yard, 12 yard, 30 yard, 50 yard and 100 yard continuous length on order.Our canvas is available from width 27"inches to 144" inches.Also available in 100% Cotton Black Primed Canvas.

Unprimed Cotton Canvas Rolls

The usual alternative to linen, especially when cost is the primary deciding factor. The heavier cotton ducks are often used to make quality canvas and they do provide an Excellent support for painting. Most cotton canvases, however, expand and contract in response to moisture and are prone to sagging and other distortions in damp weather. Cotton canvases also possess a much more regular weave than linen, which can become obscured by layers of paint and leave painting surfaces looking flat.

Our Unprimed Unstretched canvas is usually purchased in rolls or by the yard. While it must be cut, stretched, and mounted by the artist (which can be a difficult process for beginners), the stretching allows the artist to tailor the canvas to his or her individual needs.

Our Unprimed Unstretched canvas can also be used as flexible support, without rigid backing of any kind.

Primed Linen Canvas Rolls

Very smooth tight weave linen. Produced in one of the oldest linen producing factories. Great colour and smooth texture. Available in a range of roll sizes. The ground (priming) performs the following important functions:

1. It isolates the support (canvas) from damaging ingredients in the paint and so prevents disintegration of the canvas

2. The ground provides a surface that accepts the paint and allows adequate adhesion. Too much absorbency will soak up the binder from the paint that can result in cracking, while too little absorbency can produce a paint film that is liable to peel off

3. In transparent and semi-transparent painting techniques the ground enhances colours by providing a white, reflective background. The best quality grounds are always double primed. All linen manufactured by Oasis International is genuine double primed with artists' quality gesso which remains flexible and easily transportable.

Unprimed Linen Canvas Rolls

While literally any material can make a canvas, most canvases use one of four particular textiles:

Linen, Cotton, Synthetic and Jute

Linen Woven of flax fiber, generally provides the highest quality of canvas. Linen is very durable, resists expansion and contraction due to moisture, and stays supple longer than most other fabrics.

It possesses a fine, even grain, but with a slightly irregular appearance that can remain apparent through multiple layers of paint, providing character to the painting's surface. Linen canvas is available in a variety of weights and weaves, ranging from heavy and rough to light and smooth.

Linen canvas is, however, expensive to produce and to purchase, which makes it less than ideal for the beginner or the artist on a budget. Cheap linens are available, but they may be loosely woven and prone to warping.
